Walmart Corporate Welfare
OK, here’s my rant for the day. During the recent election, there was a lot of name calling going on and fingers being pointed at Obama for increasing the number of people on Food Stamps. Here was his reply to his critics: “First of all, I don’t put people on food stamps,” President Obama told ABC News. “People become eligible for food stamps. Second of all, the initial expansion of food-stamp eligibility happened under my Republican predecessor, not under me. No. 3, when you have a disastrous economic crash that results in 8 million people losing their jobs, more people are going to need more support from government.”
That’s what he said and it makes sense but now let me add my opinion: Here’s where our tax dollars go, to corporate parasites like Walmart. The image of the single mother on Food Stamps milking the taxpayer is an old one and it belongs in the past. Companies like Walmart have gamed the system and are using my tax dollars to subsidize their low wages and huge profits. Instead of complaining about how bad the economy is and blaming Obama for all the ills of the world maybe we should vote with our dollars instead.
Walmart sold us out to China and blessed us with low paying jobs long before this government took power! Hands up who thinks that Walmart really wants a booming economy where people have the spending power to shop elsewhere… yeah… didn’t think so. Redirect your anger people, join the boycott. There’s always an alternative.
