Thanksgiving is over and now we move toward the holiday season in earnest. It’s the time of year when people start to jump up & down about the use of the word “Holiday” instead of Christmas. I’m not a religious person and honestly, Christmas to me conjures up images of Dickens London instead of Christ on the cross but with that said… I get it. Christmas has become a commercial swamp with people sinking into debt to buy their kids a ridiculous amount of gadgets and gifts but for some, it is still a religious festival and I respect that. It may not be my religion or your religion but I for one am certainly not offended by it. If someone wishes me Merry Christmas, I gladly return the sentiment because heck, it is Christmas after all. I’m not offended by the word Christmas and nor am I offended by Hanukah, Kwanzaa or whatever your family celebrates at this time of year because it is something that belongs to you. It doesn’t matter what you call your December festivities, it all comes down to being the time of year to gather your family around and enjoy the spirit of the season. Happy Holidays!
